WESTERN LINE CONSTRUCTORS CHAPTER

History of Chapter: Chartered in 1957 as the Mountain States Line Constructors Chapter. The Chapter merged with the California Nevada Line Constructors Chapter in 1973 and charted under the name of Western Line Constructors Chapter in 1974. There have been six (6) Chapter Managers since the original charter.

Jurisdiction & Board of Directors The Chapter covers California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. The Board of Directors consists of seven members, one for each state. Since we do not currently have any member firms in Idaho and Wyoming, those Board seats are filled by Members-At-Large. The Board Members are:

Services

Labor Relations - The Chapter administers agreements, including Outside Line Construction, REA Construction, U/G Construction, Traffic Signal and Teledata. In addition, the Chapter administers several project labor agreements.

 

Safety - The Chapter jointly administers a safety committee with Local Union 47 and 1245 in California, Local 396 in Las Vegas, Nevada and with Locals 12, 111, 113 & 969 in Colorado. The committee's formulates safety rules and produce safety manuals.

 

Apprenticeship - The Chapter jointly sponsors two Outside Area Line JATC programs. The California-Nevada JATC and the Mountain States JATC.

 

Trusts - The Chapter has trustees on two national funds: Line Construction Benefit Fund (national Health & Welfare) and Eighth District Electrical Pension Fund (Pension for all agreements in the Mountain States area).

 

Substance Abuse Testing- The Chapter negotiates a "model" Drug Testing Policy aimed at DOT Commercial Drivers License regulations. Through a consortium we also offer an area wide network of collection sites, NIDA approved laboratories and MRO services.

 

Chapter Meetings - We hold two Chapter meetings annually, one in the Winter, typically in the southern part of our area, and one in the Summer, usually in the northern part of our area. The Chapter encourages family participation in these meetings.

 

Service Charges & Dues - The Chapter service charges are .5% of GLP, with a surcharge of .125% of GLP for Substance Abuse testing. We have no annual dues (other than a new members first year dues), but we do have a minimum annual service charge of $600.00. The service charges are subject to the same threshold limitations as contained in Article IV, Sec. 1(c) of the NECA National Bylaws. For more information click on the "MPR Forms" icon.
